Torbreck The Laird Shiraz 2013

In the Scottish language, 'The Laird' refers to the Lord of the Manor. This single vineyard Shiraz comes from Malcolm and Joylene Seppelt's old Gnadenfrei vineyard in the sub-region of Marananga in the Barossa Valley.

In 2003, Malcolm asked Dave Powell if Torbreck would make the wine under contract for him. For the next two years, each time Dave gave the wine back to Malcom, he felt he was returning the best parcel of Shiraz Torbreck made from that vintage … more

Torbreck RunRig Shiraz 2018

Shiraz from old dry grown Barossa vineyards is blended with Viognier, complementing the strengths and complexities of these individual parcels of fruit, whilst giving the resulting wine a further dimension. Although wonderfully aromatic, RunRig also exhibits a power and latent richness making it more akin to the hugely concentrated wines sourced from the sun drenched hill of Hermitage - the historic home of Syrah and some of the world’s most powerful and longest living wines. - Winery Notes

Charles Melton Nine Popes 2018

Chateauneuf du Pape, the stuff upon which Nine Popes is based, when translated to English means "Castle of the new Pope", but in many of the older languages the word "neuf" can mean both "nine" and "new". Casting around for clever names for the Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre that would become Nine Popes, winemaker Charlie drew inspiration from the aforementioned French region best known for its Grenache blends and mistranslated it to Nine Popes.

Producer Notes - "Vintage 2018 provided almost identical conditions … more

Rockford "Rod & Spur" Shiraz Cabernet 2020

Wnery Notes - "The name Rod & Spur acknowledges the contribution of our growers who spend the cold Barossa winters hand pruning their vines in the traditional rod and spur method. This wine is a return to the great Australian reds of the 1950's and 60's, when Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blends dominated the premium market. This very Australian blend is not common in other wine regions of the world."

Rockford "Moppa Springs" Grenache Mataro Shiraz 2019

Winery Notes - "Moppa Springs, Ebenezer and Kalimna are some of the driest areas in the Barossa, where green vines grow on one side of the fence and ripened wheat on the other. This hard country is cold, wet, and frosty during pruning, then hot, dry and dusty during harvest. These are the kind of tough conditions that ensure Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz give their best. These varieties and the families who grow them earned the right to represent the … more

Torbreck Steading Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2021

The Steading is much more than just Tobreck's version of the very classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grenache blend. The winery feels it is a wine that resides at the heart of Torbreck, exemplifying their belief in the preservation of Barossa Valley as a premium wine region.

Sourced primarily pre-phylloxera vines that survived not only the outbreak in the 1880s, but also the vine pull scheme in the 1980s, across 45 different sources including estate fruit and trusted local growers under a share-farming … more

Michael Hall Greenock Roussanne 2021

Undoubtedly one of the top Roussanne's made in Australia. A truly beautiful wine that showcases the fragrance and perfume of roussanne, with texture and power one comes to expect from the Northern Rhone, but with a superb refreshing acid line.

Producer Notes - "The Roussanne grape owes its name to the reddish or russet bloom it develops on its skin as it reaches full maturity. This grape is late ripening and ideally suited to the Barossa climate.

Rockford "Frugal Farmer" Grenache Mataro Alicante Bouchet 2021

Winery Notes - "Barossa folklore claims the pioneers were so frugal that when they killed a pig on the farm for meat and smallgoods, they used everything but the squeal.

When we make our Alicante Bouchet Rosè, the grapes are pressed immediately so the skins are not used. As the keepers of Barossa tradition, we couldn't allow this to go on. Immediately after the juice is drained, we crush Grenache and Mataro onto Alicante skins and ferment them together before … more
